Delivering Ireland’s Electricity Grid Infrastructure for a Renewable Future

Electricity Grid Planning and Environmental Services

For Ireland to meet its Net Zero Goal to decarbonise the electricity system, requires our electricity transmission system operated by Eirgrid, and our electricity distribution system operated by ESB Networks to be significantly expanded and reinforced right across the country to be able to absorb the significant increase in renewable energy generation required to reduce our carbon emissions.

As a result of Entrust Services delivering exempt development consent for hundreds of kilometres of underground grid connections (UGC) from various solar farms across the country to the nearest 38kV substations to delivering Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) consents for 110kV and 220kV Substations with Overhead Lines (OHL), means that Entrust has built up significant expertise and experience over the years in delivering underground and overhead electricity distribution and transmission grid infrastructure, in addition to electrical substations, to be able to deliver your electricity grid infrastructure project.

Entrust has successfully delivered a large number of grid infrastructure projects across the country in recent years including planning applications for ESB Substations upgrades, Section 5 Declarations for underground grid connections, planning applications for underground grid connections and a number of Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) consents for 110kV and 220kV Substations with overhead lines in Counties Cork, Meath, Tipperary, and Wexford.

With the goal of supporting Ireland’s transition to clean energy and reducing carbon emissions, we offer an innovative and comprehensive approach to delivering electricity grid infrastructure.

Strategic Infrastructure Development (SID) Applications:

We can project manage your entire SID – Feasibility, GIS Planning Designations Mapping, Pre-Application Consultation with the Planning Authority, Community Engagement Website, Transport Management Plan, Planning Application Plans and Drawings, Landscape & Visual Impact Assessment (LVIA), Photomontages, Wireframes, ZTV’s, 3D Model, Video Drive-By of Proposal, Construction Environment Management Plan (CEMP), Construction Methodology, Archaeology and Cultural Heritage Statement, AA Screening Report / Natura Impact Statement, Ecological Impact Assessment, Biodiversity Management Plan, Landscaping Layout and Management Plan, Planning Statement, Screening for EIA, Geology Report, Noise Impact Assessment, Flood Risk Assessment, Air & Climate and Human Health & Population Reports.

Stakeholder engagement and community consultation:

Meaningful engagement with local communities, public authorities, and other stakeholders is key to the success of delivering energy projects in Ireland. Ensuring buy-in from the majority of involved parties helps you minimise disruptions and enhance project acceptance. We have devised and implemented bespoke community engagement strategies including one-to-one engagements with residents and hosting drop-in-centres for large-scale proposals.

Planning Applications and Declarations for Exempt Development (Section 5):

We produce planning application drawings, planning statements, and an array of the required environmental reports to deliver consent for your proposal.
